Announcing the 4th Annual Sand Crab Classic Perch Tournament!


The Let’s Go Fishing Radio Show and many affiliated sponsors are hosting the 4th Annual Sand Crab Classic Perch Tournament at the Santa Cruz Harbor Saturday, February 23th, 2008. All proceeds from this event beyond expenses for the event itself are donated to the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project!


4th Annual Sand Crab Classic Perch Tournament Rules & Regulations

When: February 23, 2008 - 7am briefing - 8am start - 2pm weigh-in
Where: Harbor Meeting Room by Bayside Marine for check-in and Santa Cruz Yacht Club for weigh-in and banquet/raffle.
Why: Good times, good fishing, good food & supporting a great cause!
Entry Fee: $35.00 per person. $60.00 for Senior/Junior (under 16 yrs old) team

Sorry if you were not able to join us for the Derby this year. Entries went fast. We opened entries at 9pm on Monday night 1/28, and were full by Friday noon 2/1/08.

How to enter: Sign up here online or grab an entry form at one of the above locations and fill it out completely. Send a check or money order ($35.00 per person) and your completed entry form to the address below.

 


What you get for your entry fee:


* Coffee, juice and pastries at the mandatory morning sign in and briefing.
* BBQ feast after the weigh in at the Santa Cruz Yacht Club.

Tournament Categories: 16 and under division (Junior) and 17 and over division (Senior). A special prize will be awarded this year to for the largest perch caught using a Berkley GULP bait.


Tournament Judging: Tournament will be judged by the largest single perch measured (by length). Top level prizes and trophies will be given out in all categories. A raffle will then distribute dozens of additional prizes. You must be present to win and have your tournament tag with you.




All entrants must attend the morning briefing at the Harbor Meeting Room near Bayside Marine at 7am – February 23d. Sign in and receive your tournament tag and t-shirt. At 8am we will begin the tournament. You may fish wherever you want, with whatever you want (within current DFG regulations). You must return to The Santa Cruz Yacht Club by the 2pm cut-off time with your catch and your tag. To be eligible for any prizes you must check in by the cut-off time of 2pm. We will measure all fish and determine the winners.


The winner in each category will be awarded a trophy and prize. During dinner all prizes and giveaway items will be raffled off to the remaining contestants.

Or, leave your entry form and check at The Angler’s Choice Tackle Shop in Capitola or Bayside Marine at the Santa Cruz Harbor. Tourney will fill up quickly, we are limited by the number of people allowed at the Yacht Club.

4th ANNUAL SAND CRAB CLASSIC PERCH TOURNAMENT RULES


1. All fish entered must be caught using methods deemed legal by the California Department of Fish and Game. All adult anglers over the age of 16 must possess a current California fishing license while engaged in fishing for the tournament.


2. All fish must be presented for “measure-in” at the official measuring station by 2pm on the day of the Derby.


3. Fish caught prior to the day of the Derby are ineligible.


4. All perch species and only perch species are eligible for the Derby.


5. Winner will be determined by the single fish of greatest length. Should two or more fish tie for greatest length, whichever fish weighs the most will be determined as the winner.
